Our first day in Alaska began with riding the Glacier Discovery train. Our assigned seats were on the right hand side, which is what we wanted. The weather was great and the view along the Turnagain arm lived up to its reputation. Anytime you have mountains next to a body of water, it makes for good scenery. Here you also have the meandering train track/highway dotted with spruce trees to go with it, and a different feel depending on the tide. On this morning, we got to see mud flats at low tide. All of that put together makes it something special.
