If you are making a grand circle tour, don’t forget to make the short detour from the usual route around the Colorado river through Page to get to this place. Monument Valley boasts some of the most iconic and well-photographed landscapes of the American Southwest. Even if you only have one hour, time it so that you are there at sunset to see the famous mittens lit up by the setting sun. You should really try and stay at least a night though, and take one of the Navajo-led tours to the interior. Also, stay at the View Hotel if you can. Looking out the balcony and the sun rising behind the mittens is something you will not forget for a long time.
