They say New Mexico is the land of enchantment. It is the least visited of the Four Corners state (Colorado, Arizona and Utah) in the American Southwest because those other states have the more famous national parks. But New Mexico is no slouch, and several of the sites with national monument designations could easily be national parks. There are also unique vistas like the Bisti badlands, quirky culture and arts of Santa Fe, and great food. There are the ancient dwellings, the most of which is the Taos Pueblo, near the mountain town of Taos. The picture here is taken in the center of the town plaza, showing the unique lantern lighting that graces rooftops and parks all over the state. These are called luminaries.
